Rubilen Amit became the first Filipina to win the WPA Women's World 9-Ball Championship.

She outlasted 2017 champion Chen Siming of China in a fierce battle, winning 1-4, 4-2, 4-2, 4-3, in the finals held on September 8 in Hamilton, New Zealand, capturing the elusive title.

Her journey to the championship was anything but easy. In the last 16, she faced off against fellow Filipino pool player Chezka Centeno. She then overcame Chinese Taipei's Wei Tzu-Chien in the quarterfinals, followed by a victory against Russia's Kristina Tkach in the semifinals.
