Resigned Presidential spokesman Harry Roque has formalized his senatorial bid in the upcoming national elections as he filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) via substitution on Monday, Nov. 15.

He earlier confirmed that he will be running for a senatorial seat in an interview with DZRH.

Roque is running under the People's Reformed Party (PRP), the party under the late former senator Miriam Defensor Santiago. He substituted a certain Polo MArtelino who withdrew his COC over the weekend.

In the said interview, Roque said he will be advocating for livelihoods for Filipinos amid the outbreak of COVID-19.

(We are filing as senator to ensure that our right to a livelihood is in part of our right to good health.)

Roque stated his decision to run comes after a decision of the party, and after Davao Mayor Sara Duterte announced her vice-presidential bid.

(As I said before, I will run if Mayor Inday will run. She took a bit later to decide, she only decided on Saturday, so as we’ve said before, we are filing today.)
