Former House Speaker and Leyte 1st District Rep. Martin Romualdez is ready to face the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI), which has invited him to appear in its flood control probe on October 14.
“Rep. Romualdez welcomes the opportunity to cooperate with the Commission and fully supports its objective of promoting transparency, accountability, and good governance,” Romualdez’s office said in a statement, after confirming its receipt of the ICI’s invitation.
“In this regard, Rep. Romualdez is prepared to appear before the Commission,” it added.
In its invitation, the ICI said it expected Romualdez to testify to his “familiarity and personal knowledge as Speaker of the House relative to the National Budget insertions, and as well as the DPWH (Department of Public Works and Highways) flood control projects,” as well as to present documents relevant to the issue.
Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Amenah Pangandaman was also invited to the ICI’s flood control hearing, while Resigned Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Elizaldy Co was issued a subpoena.
