A suspect in the Ruby Rose Barrameda murder case has been arrested after several years, with her sister, actress Rochelle Barrameda, providing a positive identification.
The suspect was apprehended by authorities from the Quezon City Police District - Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (QCPD-CIDU) for allegedly being involved in the abduction, robbery, and murder of a businessman who went missing on January 5.
The businessman’s body was reportedly placed in a drum and buried in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, a modus operandi notably similar to the Barrameda case.
The suspect faces charges of homicide and carnapping but denies being the person allegedly involved in Ruby Rose’s 2007 murder, despite being positively identified by Rochelle Barrameda.
In a social media post on Friday, Barrameda revealed that aside from hiding for an extended period, the suspect had also changed his identity. The suspect is now hiding under the aliases "Victor Vidal Duenas" and "James Paul Dwight."
"Sya ang nagtago ng napakatagal at isa sa mga suspect sa karumaldumal na pag patay sa kapatid kong si RUBY ROSE BARRAMEDA. Isinilid sa drum, sinemento at tinapon sa dagat ng Navotas nung March 14, 2007," said Barrameda.
Ruby Rose was reported missing on March 14, 2007, and her body was found two years later, in June 2009. Her remains were placed in a drum, cemented, and thrown into the waters of Navotas City.
Previously, the family of the late Ruby Rose suspected her husband’s involvement in her disappearance and murder, but he was acquitted, along with his father and brother.
The arrested suspect is the uncle of Ruby Rose's husband.
