Joy of the K-pop girl group Red Velvet will be sitting out from their upcoming "Ro to V" concert in Manila next month due to health reasons, her label SM Entertainment announced Wednesday.
In a statement, SM Entertainment announced that the 26-year-old singer-actress will temporarily suspend her activities for health reasons.
“Joy recently visited a hospital due to her poor health condition, and after consultation and examination, the medical staff advised that she needs treatment and rest,” the agency said as translated by Korean media outlet Soompi.
The label also apologized to the fans and asked for their understanding.
“We will do our best so that Joy can greet fans in good health again,” they said.
Later the same day, concert promoter PULP Live World said that the concert will push through with only the four members — Irene, Seulgi, Wendy, and Yeri — participating on May 7 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
"We are hoping for your understanding and support. See you on May 7."
PULP have also since released the process of ticketing transfers and refunds following the announcement.
Red Velvet's 4th concert tour "R to V in Manila" is the girl group's first ever solo concert in the country.
Irene, Seulgi, Wendy, Joy, and Yeri last visited Manila in July 2022 for a charity concert.
Debuted in 2014, Red Velvet are best known for their hit tracks “Red Flavor,” “Power Up,” “Bad Boy,” “Russian Roulette,” “Peek-A-Boo,” “Ice Cream Cake," “Psycho," and "Feel My Rhythm."
The group had their comeback in November last year with their 6th extended play (EP) "The Reve Festival 2022—Birthday."
Get well soon, Joy!
