A former rapper and his alleged accomplice were arrested by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) for illegal firearms trading in Barangay Tonsuya, Malabon.
In a report by Edniel Parrosa, CIDG Director Police Major General Nick Torre identified the suspect as alias "Rovi," known in the entertainment scene as "Slick One," a former member of the hip-hop group Breezy Boys. He was arrested alongside an accomplice identified only as alias "Mark."
According to the CIDG, the two suspects were apprehended during an entrapment operation on May 9 after selling a .38 caliber revolver to an undercover police poseur buyer.
Investigators revealed that both suspects are members of a newly identified criminal group called the "Laguna Criminal Group," which is allegedly involved in gunrunning operations in the CAMANAVA (Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, Valenzuela) area.
Further probe showed that Slick One is currently working as a delivery rider for an app-based service, which authorities believe he was using as a front for his illegal activities.
The suspects will be facing charges for violating the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and the election-related gun ban.
