The coffin of Queen Elizabeth II will return to Buckingham Palace in London on Tuesday evening, after 24 hours of lying in state at the St Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh, Scotland.

“Having travelled from St Giles’ Cathedral, Her Majesty’s Coffin will depart in a Royal Air Force aircraft from Edinburgh Airport in the early evening, arriving into RAF Northolt,” the Royal Family said in a statement posted on its official website on Monday, Sept. 12.

It said that Princess Royal Anne will be accompanied by his husband Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence on the coffin's journey to London.

“At Edinburgh Airport, The Coffin will be conveyed onto the aircraft by a Royal Air Force Bearer Party and a Guard of Honour will be found by The Royal Regiment of Scotland. There will be a Royal Salute as the Coffin arrives. The Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland will also be present on the apron,” the statement reads.
