A fifth-grade pupil died on Monday, Oct. 3, 11 days after his teacher allegedly slapped him in Peñafrancia Elementary School in Antipolo City.

In a report by RH 05 Val Gonzales, the deceased victim, identified as Francis Jay Gumikib, 14, told his mother that he had been slapped by his teacher after reporting about his noisy classmates.

After the incident, Gumikib was still able to attend his classes for three days, but had experienced severe headaches and earaches.

The victim’s mother Elena Minggoy said his son lost balance and vomited, and was immediately rushed to the hospital.

But after 11 days of being admitted, Francis later died due to a brain hemorrhage.

The slapping incident happened on September 20.

According to witnesses, the teacher named Mirasol Quizon pulled out the 14-year-old victim’s hair and delivered a slap.

The victim’s family had appealed to Vice President and Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Sara Duterte, crying for justice.
