The proclamation for the Malabon City candidates was delayed due to machine malfunctions during the tally count.
RH 23 Edwin Duque reported early Tuesday, May 13, that as of 1:43 AM, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said that staff and volunteers have resorted to manual counting of votes, because the counting machine in Barangay Tugatog in Malabon City malfunctioned.
At the time of reporting, 300 out of 800 ballots have been counted. The Comelec in Malabon also stated it may take up to four hours before all the votes in the remaining precincts are finalized.
Meanwhile, some of congressional candidate Lenlen Oreta’s supporters chanted in unison to proclaim the former as the congressman of Malabon’s lone district. Oreta is currently leading with over 78,000 votes.
Despite this, Duque reported that none of the candidates have conceded.
