Printing of official ballots for 2025 midterm elections begins
by Alessandra C. Frianela06 January 2025

The printing of more than 73 million ballots for the 2025 elections is set to begin today, January 6, at the National Printing Office in Quezon City.

In an exclusive interview with DZRH's Magandang Umaga Pilipinas on Monday, Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman George Garcia stated that the first ballots to be printed will be for areas with no protests, cases, or disqualifications.

According to Garcia, the Comelec is scheduled to print the ballots between January 6 and April 14, 2025.

“Alam niyo po 77 araw lamang tayong dapat makapag-imprenta ng balota. Itong pagi-imprenta ng balota ay hindi po ganon kadali ‘yan," said Garcia.

He further explained that the ballot holds the utmost importance in an election, and each one undergoes manual inspection during the printing process.

Each ballot will be processed individually through machines to verify whether it will be accepted, with approximately 500 machines used for this verification process.

In the meantime, the Comelec plans to print between 800,000 and 1 million ballots each day.
