President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Monday expressed his trust that the newly-appointed officials of the Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) will help in solving the sugar shortage in the country.
David John Thaddeus Alba is the new acting SRA administrator, replacing former SRA admin Hermenegildo Serafica who recently resigned from post. While Pablo Luis Ascona and Maria Ma. Mitzy Mangwag will represent the sugar planters and sugar millers, respectively.
Executive Secretary Victor Rodriguez confirmed the appointments of the three officials last Saturday.
The Malacañang on Monday made a pronouncement that supply shortage in the country is only "artificial" after the simultaneous discovery of a huge volume of sugar in various warehouses in Luzon.
It said that sugar traders are "hoarding" sugar supply for them to benefit from the rising sugar prices.
