Manuel Bonoan has officially resigned as Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) secretary, a post handed over to Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon.

Bonoan’s resignation takes effect tomorrow, September 1, the Palace announced on Sunday. Meanwhile, Dizon has been placed at the forefront of an anti-corruption campaign and an overhaul of the organization as a whole.

Giovanni Lopez will fill in for Dizon, serving as Acting DOTr Secretary.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has also ordered that an independent body probe the anomalies surrounding the nation’s flood control projects and propose safeguards against future corruption.
