President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. will be attending the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, slated in January 2023.
This was confirmed by House Speaker Martin Romualdez during an interview with the reporters on Wednesday.
“The President, I believe, has confirmed his visit to Switzerland, to Davos, where he was invited by no less than the noted professor Klaus Schwab,” Romualdez who is part of the Philippine Delegation in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations - European Union (ASEAN-EU) Commemorative Summit in Brussel, Belgium.
WEF founder and executive chairman Klaus Schwab personally invited Marcos to attend the forum during the 40th and 41st Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit in Cambodia last November.
Romualdez recalled that Schwab praised the economic developments of the Philippines.
"He [Schwab] said your country is doing quite well. In fact, we've seen the growth in numbers and it's quite positive and we would like to hear the Philippine story in Davos,” he shared.
“And I believe from his presentation and the invitation to the President, he would like to highlight the President's economic policies, what the Philippines is doing, and why it's one of the leaders in the ASEAN," he added.
Last month, the President admitted that he has not yet decided if he will accept the invitation because he felt “it’s traveling too much.”
In January 2023, Marcos will also embark on a state visit to China.
