President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. has been invited by French President Emmanuel Macron and Vietnamese President Nguyen Xuan Phuc to make a state visit to their respective countries.

In a video statement on Friday, Marcos said French President Macron extended the invitation during their bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Bangkok, Thailand.

"He was also kind enough to invite me to visit France when the time comes," he said.

Marcos said he likewise invited the French President to visit the Philippines.

Meanwhile, Vietnamese President Phuc invited Marcos to visit their country and he had accepted it.

"I cannot say no, I will, in principle, accept your very kind invitation," the chief executive told Phuc during a separate meeting.

"We will just stay in contact so that we can decide on the date. I will ask our foreign secretary to stay in touch with his counterpart, and also your staff in the Vietnamese Embassy," he added.

Last week, the Office of the Press Secretary announced that Marcos had accepted the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping. He is scheduled to embark in a state visit to China from Jan. 3 until Jan. 5 or 6.
