President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. called on Filipinos to reflect on the noble contributions and honorable life of Dr. Jose Rizal, urging the nation to embrace his ideals for a free and prosperous country, as the nation observes the 128th anniversary of his martyrdom on Monday.
"As we remember his noble works and honorable life, let us take to heart his words and ideals that awakened the consciousness of our forebear and stirred a national movement for freedom," Marcos said in his message on December 30.
He also urged Filipinos to reflect with pride on Rizal's legacy and embody the values he held dear—love for the country, dedication to the truth, and a commitment to the welfare of the people.
"Truly, it is through Dr. Rizal's works that one can realize that true change can begin within us, especially when we stand firm on the issues that we face today," he added.
The President urged everyone to become catalysts for change and remain committed to the belief that each individual can contribute to building a nation founded on the pillars of solidarity and progress.
