President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. has declared February 24, 2023, as a special non-working holiday ahead of the commemoration of the EDSA People Power Revolution slated on Saturday, Feb. 25.

In Proclamation No. 167, Marcos moved the February 25 holiday to February 24 "to enable our countrymen to avail of the benefits of a longer weekend pursuant to the principle of holiday economics... provided that the historical significance of the EDSA People Power Revolution Anniversary is maintained."

The President likewise directed the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to issue the appropriate circular to implement the proclamation for the private sector.

In 1986, from February 22 to 25, millions of Filipinos trooped to EDSA for the said uprising that aims to oust then-President and late dictator Ferdinand Marcos.

The late dictator and his family, including Marcos Jr., would finally leave Malacañang for exile in the US in the wee hours of February 26, 1986.
