President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on Wednesday night paid his final respects to the veteran actress Susan Roces.
Duterte arrived at the Heritage Park in Taguig along with Senator Christopher 'Bong' Go, and Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea. The President was welcomed by Roces' daughter, Senator Grace Poe, one of Duterte's opponents during the 2016 presidential election.
"Pinahahalagahan ng aming pamilya ang kabutihang loob na magbigay-pugay sa aking ina ang Pangulo ng ating bansa. Maraming salamat, PRRD," Poe said in a Facebook post.
Roces, who was dubbed the "Queen of Philippine Movies," passed away on Friday at the age of 80.
Her interment is scheduled today, May 26 at the Manila North Cemetery, where Roces’ remains will be buried beside her husband and fellow film icon Fernando Poe, Jr.
