"Nilagdaan kahapon May 10 ang Proclamation No. 1143 na nagdedeklara ng nasabing state of calamity sa buong bansa sa loob ng isang taon unless earlier lifted or extended as circumstances may warrant,” Presidential spokesman Harry Roque said in his regular briefing.

ASF, which is fatal to hogs but not to humans, has spread to 493 cities and municipalities in 12 regions across the Philippines.

“All government agencies and LGUs are enjoined to render full assistance to and cooperation with each other and mobilize the necessary resources to undertake critical, urgent, and appropriate measures in a timely manner to curtail the further spread of ASF, address the supply deficit in pork products, reduce retail prices, and jumpstart and the rehabilitation of the local hog industry,” said Roque.
