Pope Francis, who is being treated for bilateral pneumonia, continues to show stability, but his condition is still part of a complex overall health situation, the Vatican said.
"The Holy Father's health condition is stable within a still-complex overall picture. The prognosis remains guarded," the Vatican stated.
In a recent update, the Holy See Press Office stated that the 88-year-old pontiff is receiving medical treatment, including respiratory physiotherapy.
Furthermore, the Holy Father alternates between non-invasive mechanical ventilation at night and high-flow oxygen therapy during the day through a nasal cannula.
Pope Francis also spent approximately 20 minutes in prayer in the chapel on the hospital's tenth floor, where his room is located, and was able to carry out some work-related tasks.
As the Pope remains stable, no further medical bulletin will be issued; however, the Holy See Press Office will provide updates on his condition.
The Pope recently recorded and shared an audio message, offering his gratitude to those who have prayed for his health and speedy recovery.
Delivered in Spanish, his message was broadcast in St. Peter’s Square as Cardinal Ángel Fernández Artime, Pro-Prefect of the Dicastery for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life, led the nightly Rosary prayer.
