The Vatican announced that Pope Francis remained in stable condition on Thursday compared to "previous days" and has not suffered any episodes of respiratory insufficiency.
In a recent update from the Holy See Press Office, it was reported that the 88-year-old pontiff continued to undergo respiratory and motor physiotherapy with positive results. His hemodynamic parameters and blood test results remained stable as well.
"He did not run a fever. However, the prognosis remains reserved," the Vatican said.
"Given the stability of his clinical condition, the next medical bulletin will be issued on Saturday," they added.
Furthermore, the Holy Father carried out work activities, interspersing them with moments of rest and prayer.
While there will be no medical bulletin on Friday, the Holy See Press Office will provide an update on the Pope’s condition.
Pope Francis had been in Rome's Gemelli Hospital for nearly three weeks, receiving treatment for bilateral pneumonia.
Meanwhile, Pope Francis recorded and shared an audio message expressing his gratitude to those who have prayed for his health and recovery.
"I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your prayers for my health from [St. Peter’s] Square. I accompany you from here," said the Pope, whose difficulty in breathing was evident in his voice.
"May God bless you and the Virgin protect you. Thank you," he added.
The Pope’s message, delivered in Spanish, was broadcast in St. Peter’s Square as Cardinal Ángel Fernández Artime, Pro-Prefect of the Dicastery for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life, led the nightly Rosary prayer.
Pope Francis has not been seen in public since his hospitalization.
