Five Department of Educations (DepEd)officials resigned from their posts.
DepEd Usec Michael Poa confirmed on Tuesday, July 16, that he, Usec. Nolasco Mempin, Asec. Sunshine Fajardo, Asec. Reynold Munsayac, and Asec. Noel Baluyan have tendered their resignation.
The resignation of Poa and the four other officials came almost a month after Vice President Sara Duterte announced her decision to step down as Education Secretary.
President Ferdiand Marcos Jr. chose Sen. Sonny Angara to replace Duterte as DepEd chief.
"I think it is only appropriate to give the incoming Secretary of Education, Secretary Angara, a free hand to choose the people that will form part of his team," Poa explained in a message.
The resignation of Duterte, and the five officials will take effect on Friday, July 19.
