The Philippine National Police (PNP) investigates reports of a 'friendly fire' during a rescue operation by the Anti-Kidnapping Group last August 3 in Angeles City, Pampanga.

The operation resulted to an armed encounter that led to the death of PSSgt. Nelson Santiago, and injured another police officer, PCMSgt. Eden Accad.

"I don’t want to pre-empt the findings of the investigation but part of it is to determine who really killed and wounded our police officers," PCol. Jean Fajardo, spokesperson of the PNP, said on Friday, August 9, during a press briefing in Camp Crame.

The operation resulted to the rescue of two Chinese nationals, and the arrest of two suspects.
