President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. has appointed Police Major General Rommel Francisco Marbil as the 30th chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Marbil, who replaced retired Police General Benajmin Acorda Jr., was formally appointed during the PNP change of command ceremony in Camp Crame, Quezon City, on Monday, April 1.
In his acceptance speech, Marbil thanked Marcos for putting his trust in him to lead the PNP.
"I assure you that dedicated members of the PNP are ready to work tirelessly with you to drive real change toward a collective vision of a Bagong Pilipinas," he said.

The newly-appointed PNP chief vowed to develop the strides left by his predecessors to "ensure continuity and improvement" within the organization.
He said his leadership would focus on "quality of leadership, knowledge, and professionalism within the ranks," "expanding ability to uphold the law, maintain order and fight transnational crimes in all forms and manifestation," and "strive to increase" the level of public's trust in PNP.
Meanwhile, in his message, the Chief Executive declared his full confidence and support in Marbil.
Marcos challenged the new PNP chief to curb threats of cybercrimes, terrorism, and transnational crimes.
"We shall continue to uphold the highest standard of professionalism and give the finest service to our citizens. Let us ensure that the PNP will be agents of transformation in the lives of our people," he added.
Joining the President in the ceremony were Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin and Interior Secretary Benjamin 'Benhur' Abalos Jr.
According to the Presidential Communication Office, Marbil previously served as head of the PNP Directorate for Comptrollership. He was also the former regional director of the Police Regional Office 8 and the former director of the Highway Patrol Group.
