The management of the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) is expecting more than 100,000 passengers to arrive at the terminal this weekend until the Holy Week as more people return home to their provinces.
It comes after the terminal sees an average of 91,000 passengers per day over the past seven days.
"Talagang napakataas na ng bilang ng mga pasahero natin in the past seven days, nakapagtala tayo ng average na 91,000 passengers per day," said Jason Sandoval, corporate affairs head of PITX.
(The number of passengers in the past seven days is really high. We recorded an average of 91,000 passengers a day.)
According to Sandoval, passenger count is expected to remain high until Maundy Thursday, with about 20% to 25% increase in the daily average.
"So somewhere around 100 to 110 thousand ang magiging pasahero po natin sa araw na 'yan," he said.
(So somewhere around 100 to 110 thousand passengers are expected on that day.)
"'Yun ang pinaghahandaan nating mabuti ngayon. Sinisiguro po nating may sapat na bilang ng sasakyan upang maihatid 'yung ating mga kababayan," he added.
(We are preparing for that now. We want to ensure that we have enough vehicles to bring people to their destinations.)
Meanwhile, he urged arriving passengers to book their tickets early to avoid the inconvenience of walking in at the terminal and purchasing tickets.
"Mas ina-advise po natin mag-advance booking po sila para sa ganun walang aberya at dire-diretso 'yung kanilang pamamahinga sa kanilang mga probinsya," Sandoval said.
(We are advising them to book in advance in order to avoid inconvenience and they can directly rest in their provinces.)
A bigger number of people are expected to travel home this weekend until the Holy Week as the government eases the alert levels in most parts of the country.
