The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) allocated Php 45 million initial supplemental fund for the emergency employment of people in Bataan affected by the recent oil spill incident.

Under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay Para sa Ating Displaced/Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) Program, DOLE engaged 1,357 workers to collect coconut husks and to make oil spill booms.

DOLE said that the TUPAD beneficiaries will also help in Super Typhoon Carina cleanup operations.

The oil spill started on July 25 after fuel tanker MT Terra Nova, which reportedly carried 1.5 million liters of industrial oil, sank at the waters of Limay, Bataan.
