A total of 75 volcanic earthquakes and 140 rockfall events were observed at the Mayon Volcano in Albay province over the past 24 hours, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) on Friday, November 3.
In its latest bulletin, the volcanic earthquakes were accompanied by 72 tremor events that lasted 1 to 20 minutes.
The state seismologist advised the public that possible hazards could occur during this time, such as landslides, ballistic fragments, lava flows, pyroclastic density currents, moderate-sized explosions, and lahars, which occur during heavy and prolonged rainfall.
Phivolcs added that there is moderate emission of plumes from west-southwest and south-southwest drift.
Entry inside the 6-kilometer radius of the Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ) and flying any aircraft close to the Mayon Volcano are still prohibited.
The Mayon Volcano remains under Alert Level 3, as of writing.
