A total of 32 aftershocks were recorded following the magnitude 6.3 earthquake that rocked Calatagan town in Batangas on Thursday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said Friday.
According to the state seismologists, the 32 aftershocks were plotted earthquakes — detected and measured by at least three PHIVOLCS seismic stations — with magnitudes ranging from 1.6 to 3.1 and 15.
The magnitude 6.3 quake, which was tectonic in origin, occurred at 10:19 AM west of Calatagan, Batangas with a depth of 103 kilometers.
The said quake was reportedly felt in different parts of Metro Manila as well as neighboring provinces. PHIVOLCS reported Intensity IV in Quezon City.
PHIVOLCS raised the earthquake magnitude to 6.3 from the initial 6.2.
No damages to property were reported, however, several classes in Batangas were suspended shortly after the quake.
