About 800 aftershocks have been recorded after the magnitude 7 hits Northern Luzon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said on Thursday, July 28.

In a report by DZRH's Christian Maño on MBC Network News, out of 800, they plotted 168, and 24 were felt yesterday.

Phivolcs asserted that the magnitude of the aftershocks ranged from 1.5 to 5.4.

According to the official report, a magnitude of 5.4 was felt in Bukay, Abra at 3 pm yesterday.

While in Dinapigue, Isabela, it experienced magnitude 5.1 at 4 pm yesterday.

In Tayum, Abra, magnitude 5.0 hit at 2 am today and the it was also felt by neighbor provinces including Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Norte, Benguet, Cagayan, Aurora and Isabela.

Philvocs Renato U. Solidum Jr. earlier said that the aftershocks could still be felt in Northern Luzon in the next few days.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reminds the public to remain calm and follow the duck, cover, and hold protocol.

According to the data of NDRMC, a magnitude 7 earthquake was last felt in Luzon on July 16, 1990. This caused the destruction of buildings in Baguio, Cabanatuan, and Dagupan, and the death of 1,600 Filipinos.
