Vice President Sara Duterte condemned the devastating incident at the Lapu-Lapu Day block party in Vancouver, Canada, which claimed the lives of at least 11 people and left several others injured.

The incident took place when a 30-year-old Vancouver man intentionally drove an SUV into a crowd of attendees during the Lapu-Lapu Day celebrations.

In an official statement, Vice President Duterte extended her condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims, expressing that her thoughts are with every "kababayan" affected by the said "act of violence."

"I condemn this deliberate assault in the strongest possible terms. There is no justification for targeting peaceful festivalgoers, and those responsible must be held fully accountable under Canadian law," said Duterte.

Duterte then thanked the Canadian government and expressed her deep appreciation for the efforts of the Philippine Embassy in Ottawa and the Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver for their coordination with Canadian authorities to ensure that every Filipino in need receives assistance, comfort, and clear guidance.

"Their commitment to our kababayan’s well-being offers immense reassurance during these challenging times," said the Vice President.

On the other hand, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. also extended his sympathies to the families of the victims and expressed his grief over the incident.
