The Philippines has placed Gaza City in Israel under crisis alert level 3.
This was confirmed by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) to DZRH News on Thursday, October 12.
According to DFA Undersecretary Eduardo de Vega, the current alert level means the repatriation of Filipinos is now voluntary.
DFA said around 137 Filipinos are located in the said war zone.
Meanwhile, Alert Level 2 is raised in Israel, where there are at least 30,000 Filipino workers.
The foreign affairs department said Alert Level 2 calls for restricting non-essential mobility, avoiding protest locations, and becoming ready for a potential evacuation.
Israel Defense Forces on Thursday started conducting "large-scale strikes" targeting the militant group Hamas.
The latest update from DFA showed that two Filipinos were confirmed dead due to the terrorist attack.
