The Philippine government won the multi-billion arbitration against the lawsuit filed by an Australian-based company, TMA Australia PTY. LTD and its subsidiary, the TMA Group Philippines, Inc. against the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO).
According to the Office of the Government Corporate Counsel, the International Court of Arbitration junked the P32 billion claim by the TMA due to lack of jurisdiction.
Meanwhile, the legal dispute against the contractual venture agreement between the TMA and PCSO happened in the year 2009 for the construction of the first thermal coating plant in the country.
Such an agreement, which was investigated by the senate, made the agency withdraw due to too much loss in the government.
In August 2019, the Makati City Regional Trial Court was in favor of TMA and ordered to confiscate more than P700 million funds from the PCSO.
The state firm had raised the case to the Supreme Court, which was unfortunately declared invalid as ordered by the lower court's order, making the PCSO return the fund to TMA, which later on filed claims to the tribunal where their claims were also dismissed.
