Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Laban (PDP-Laban) Secretary General Melvin Matibag named eight members of the Presidential Cabinet as possible senatorial candidates of the political party for the upcoming 2022 elections.
The inital senatorial line-up bared by Matibag includes the following Cabinet officials:
- Department of Transportation Arthur Tugade,
- Department of Labor and Employment Sec. Silvestre Bello III,
- Cabinet Sec. Karlo Alexei Nograles,
- Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo,
- Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque,
- Department of Public Works and Highways Sec. Mark Villar,
- Department of Agrarian Reform Sec. John Castriciones, and
- Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission chairperson Greco Belgica.
Matibag said that PDP-Laban also considers including Quirino Gov. Dax Cua and Leyte 4th District Rep. Lucy Torres-Gomez to the senatorial slate of the party.
PDP-Laban is expected to announce its final and official list of senatorial candidates when the party holds a national assembly on September 8.
The national council of PDP-Laban has recently endorsed Sen. Christopher 'Bong' Go, and incumbent President Rodrigo Duterte to run for President and Vice President, respectively, in the national polls next year.
