President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is in emotional state while vowing for accountability for those behind anomalous flood control projects, saying public service should prioritize ordinary Filipinos over political or personal interests.

In the fourth episode of his BBM Podcast, the President quickly responded on the question if he ever regretted running for Presidency despite the challenges happening.

“No. Not for one moment… Because I am given the privilege and the chance to actually do something. All of the things that I complained about all my life, now I can do something about them. And that is the greatest privilege anyone can be granted,” he said.

“Who’s more important? To me, it’s the Filipino citizen. Nobody is more important than Filipinos. Not me, not anybody,” Marcos added.

The President got emotional while answering how corruption has robbed hardworking Filipinos of the benefits of projects funded by their taxes.

“I see people having a hard time. And they don’t deserve it. Mabubuting tao yan. Dapat parusahan? Hindi naman eh. Walang ginawa yan kundi magtrabaho, mahalin ang pamilya. Ba’t mo paparusahan? Para magpayaman ka? That makes no sense to me,” he added.

Marcos emphasized that the real measure of leadership is sacrifice for the greater good.

“Whatever it is that’s going to be good for Filipinos, you sacrifice that for the Filipinos. That’s what being a good Filipino means. You make sacrifices for the country. You make sacrifices for your people,” he noted.

Marcos earlier revealed that only about 30 percent of funds for some projects were left after corruption seeped into the system. He said this betrayal of public trust angered him deeply.

“Talagang hindi ako makatulog pag iniisip ko, paano tayo nagkaganto?” he said.

Marcos said his administration will continue investigating questionable projects and push reforms to stop abuses. He added that an independent commission, separated from the government.

“We will give them all the powers that are necessary for them to come to a conclusion, to come to some findings, para meron naman alam natin kung ano yung nangyari,” he noted.
