Vice President Sara Duterte asserted that without President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos’ approval, her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, would not have been “kidnapped” and imprisoned in a foreign land. For his alleged role in the ostensible ploy against his predecessor, Marcos must be held accountable, she said.
“‘Yung tinatawag natin na ‘rendition’ o ‘yung pag-kidnap o pagkuha ng isang citizen sa loob ng bayan niya at dalhin siya sa isang foreign jurisdiction para ipakulong doon, hindi mangyayari ‘yan kung walang approval ng President,” Sara Duterte said in an interview.
She also said it was unlikely that the government agencies under Marcos would act on their own accord, unless incapacitated and unaware of the goings-on in the country.
“Malabo na gumalaw ang mga departments ng kanya-kanya lang unless incapacitated na talaga ‘yung President natin na hindi na talaga din niya alam kung anong nangyayari sa bayan,” she added.
The President claiming to have no knowledge of major happenings in the country is a recurring pattern, Duterte noted, recalling his apparent ignorance of the national police’s occupation of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) compound in an effort to arrest its head pastor, Apollo Quiboloy.
“(It) also shows a pattern as well, from previous statements of the President tulad na lang noong rate o occupation ng PNP (Philippine National Police) sa KOJC na hindi niya alam kung anong nangyayari doon sa loob at mga iba pa niyang mga statements na it doesn’t make sense anymore.”
Moreover, when asked whether she expects more troubling events in the future, Duterte claimed the President was “desperate,” and the attacks, as she has put it, will not stop until she is behind bars or dead.
“Desperate people, they can think of the worst things to do … Naisip ko ‘yan na hindi talaga titigil hanggang hindi ako makulong or mamatay. Iyon na lang naman talaga ang hindi pa nila nagagawa sa ngayon,” she responded.
Earlier, the President’s sister, Sen. Imelda “Imee” Marcos, urged the Office of the Ombudsman to investigate the officials who were allegedly involved in the apprehension and transfer of the former President, namely: Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla, Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla, PNP head Pol. Gen. Rommel Marbil, PNP - Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) Chief Nicolas Torre III, as well as Special Envoy for Transnational Crimes Markus Lacanilao.
