President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is exploring new and innovative ways to address the Philippines' ongoing power crisis.

During his visit to the United States, he met with officials from the Ultra Safe Nuclear Corporation, a renowned leader in nuclear technologies and services.

The CEO of the corporation, Francesco Venneri, expressed a keen interest in bringing clean and reliable nuclear energy to the country, citing it as a crucial way to enter the market.

The corporation is considering the Philippines for its first nuclear energy facility in Southeast Asia and aims to help address the recent spate of power outages that have affected many regions.

"We also note that there’s a great deal of discussion about Mindoro having blackouts and that might be an excellent….a good science [solution],” Venneri said.

The micro modular reactor (MMR) energy system is a fourth-generation nuclear energy system that is both safe and cost-effective and provides uninterrupted power.

The Marcos administration is committed to ensuring an unhampered supply of energy, while also promoting and utilizing renewable energy sources.

The MMR is licensed in Canada and the US and is the first "fission battery" in commercialization.

The company foresees the Philippines as its nuclear hub in the region and anticipates heavy demand for its MMRs and nuclear fuel.
