President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. on Tuesday accepted the courtesy resignation of at least 18 officials of the Philippine National Police (PNP) following their alleged involvement in illegal activities in the country.

The Palace released the information a day after Marcos delivered his second State of the Nation Address (SONA), where he mentioned that he would accept the resignation of "unscrupulous law enforcers and others involved in the highly nefarious drug trade."

"President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced on Tuesday that he has accepted the resignation of eighteen (18) Third-Level Officers of the Philippine National Police (PNP) allegedly involved in illegal drugs activities, upon the recommendation of the National Police Commission Ad Hoc Advisory Group that investigated the matter," Presidential Communications Secretary Cheloy Garafil said.

The Palace statement included the list of the names of the 18 PNP generals and colonels who tendered their resignations:

Of the 953, Garafil said the group recommended the non-acceptance of 935 courtesy resignations and only of the 18 police generals and colonels as per the Ad Hoc Advisory Group.
