Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto exposed the presence of alleged trolls engaging with his social media posts, aiming to raise awareness to counter what he claims are dirty political practices in the city.
"Nagsimula ito sa isang post ko sa Barangay Ugong drainage-na matagal ng hindi napapagawa-inauguration," Sotto said in a Facebook reel posted on October 4.
He stated that he sought assistance from a friend to look into the profiles of users who gave 'angry' and 'haha' reactions to his post, where they noticed striking similarities among the accounts.
"Pare-pareho ‘yung mga content ng mga profile," Sotto mentioned.
He further stated that the profiles of these trolls are connected to sites that sell fake accounts and create counterfeit engagements on Facebook.
He remarked that, while he was not surprised, the residents of Pasig know that some are ready to lie and mislead individuals in pursuit of their goals.
"Kailangan ko po ng tulong ninyo. Ipakita po natin na hindi na uubra ang luma at maduming estilo ng pulitika sa Lungsod ng Pasig," Sotto apealed in closing.
The incumbent mayor filed his Certificate of Candidacy (COC) in a reelection bid on Saturday, October 5.
