Pasay City General Hospital (PCGH) announced on Wednesday that it will no longer admit both COVID and non-COVID patients as it hits full capacity.
"We wish to inform the public that we cannot accept any more admissions for severe and critical COVID patients," PCGH office-in-charge Dr. John Victor de Gracia said in a statement.
According to de Gracia, this is because intensive care unit (ICU) beds, ward beds, ER isolation rooms, and ER anterooms for COVID-19 patients are already at full capacity.
"We are also declaring stop admission non-COVID cases due to shortage of manpower," the official said.
"Only extreme emergency/life-threatening surgical procedures will be accepted," he added.
According to the announcement, a total of 44 healthcare workers (HCWs), mostly nurses and ancillary personnel, are either in isolation, had close contact exposure, or awaiting their swab test results.
No vaccination will be held in the hospital, according to de Gracia, and the Outpatient department will only be conducting telemedicine.
"Please bear with us as this situation is beyond our control but rest assured that the presently admitted patients will be managed well with the existing manpower," the official said.
"Once our HCWs recover, we will resume our normal operations," he added.
This comes amid a sudden surge of COVID-19 patients across the country, with 10,775 new cases on Wednesday. In Pasay, there are 810 active infections as of January 5.
