Pederalismo ng Dugong Dakilang Samahan (PDDS) founder and president Greco Belgica was also surprised with the decision of President Rodrigo Duterte to no longer run for senator in the 2022 elections.
Belgica, another senatorial aspirant, said that President Duterte, who initially filed his candidacy for senator under the PDDS, did not share his plans to withdraw from the upcoming polls.
"Kasama ako sa mga nagulat," Belgica said on Tuesday, December 15, during DZRH's Dos Por Dos.
President Duterte decided to withdraw his candidacy for senator after his former close aide, Sen. Christopher 'Bong' Go, also went to the Commission on Elections office in Manila City, and formally withdrew his bid to run for President in the 2022 election.
Belgica promised that his party will continue to support President Duterte and Go, who filed his candidacy for President under PDDS, even after their withdrawal.
"We are, where we are. We will look forward and we will talk to them. They are still our leaders. I am sure that they have good reasons for doing that and our support for them is 100 percent," said the former Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission chairperson.
