The Department of Education (DepEd) on Tuesday announced that its scholastic multi-sport competition Palarong Pambansa is set to return onsite this July.
In a press release, DepEd said the 2023 Palarong Pambansa would be held in Marikina City from July 29 to August 5, 2023.
The host for this year's competition are Marikina City local government unit (LGU), DepEd-National Capital Region (NCR) Office, and Marikina City Schools Division Office (SDO).
The team sports included for this year are baseball, basketball, football, futsal, sepak takraw, football, and volleyball.
DepEd said before the Palarong Pambansa event in July, there would be division meets and regional meets.
The division meets are slated on February 6 to 10 while regional meets will be conducted on April 24 to 28.
Afterward, DepEd would conduct Pre-National Qualifying meet to "lessen the number of delegations, shorten the duration of the event, and lower the expenses to be incurred—all without sacrificing the level of play."
It said that the delegations are clustered into groups based on their geographical location.
Cluster 1
- Ilocos Region
- Cagayan Valley
- Central Luzon
- Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR)
Cluster 2
- CALABARZON
- MIMAROPA
- NCR
- Bicol Region
Cluster 3
- Western, Central, and Eastern Visayas
- Zamboanga Peninsula Region
Cluster 4

This year would be the Palarong Pambansa official comeback onsite after three years of being canceled due to the restrictions of the pandemic.
