Malacañang directed all presidential appointees in agencies, offices, and bureaus under the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) to submit their unqualified courtesy resignations.
In a memorandum from Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, it was highlighted that the directive was intended to provide the newly appointed PCO secretary with the freedom to carry out his duties and responsibilities effectively.
"The courtesy resignations shall be submitted to the PCO Secretary not later than 28 February 2025 (Friday),” the memorandum read.
Moreover, the directive applies to the following:

all Presidential Appointees in agencies offices, and bureaus under the PCO whose appointments are not permanent.
- all Presidential appointees in Government-Owned or Controlled Corporations (GOCCs) attached to PCO whose appointments are in acting capacity, as well as those who are in holdover status.
Bersamin stated that until further action is taken by the President, the Executive Secretary, or the new PCO leadership, all concerned officials are expected to continue reporting for work and carrying out their regular duties and responsibilities.
Furthermore, he assured that all affected staff members are aware of the directive, and that compliance will be closely monitored.
The directive was issued just days after Jay Ruiz took his oath as the Ad Interim Secretary of the PCO, replacing Cesar Chavez, who tendered his irrevocable resignation to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on February 5.
