The birthday party of former first lady Imelda Romualdez-Marcos, mother of President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr., inside the Malacañang is not of public interest, according to the Office of the Press Secretary (OPS).
"We will only be releasing statements on issues where public interest/welfare is involved," the OPS said in a statement.
This comes after photos from the Instagram account of lawyer Michael Manotoc — son of Sen. Imee Marcos and the former first lady's grandson — went viral on social media.
The photos showed an event to celebrate "Mama Meldy's 93rd Birthday" at the Rizal Ceremonial Hall last July 2.
"The great grandkids got all dressed up for their first visit to Malacañang! Happy Birthday Mama Meldy!!" he wrote in his caption.
The interiors of the event place suggested the celebration was held in the presidential palace's Rizal Ceremonial Hall, which is used for state dinners and large assemblies.
Malacañang is the official residence of the president of the Philippines, although it was earlier revealed that Marcos and his family will be staying at Bahay Pangarap, the same place where his last two predecessors lived throughout their terms.
