President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. has chosen Bahay Pangarap as his official residence, the same place where his last two predecessors lived throughout their terms.
This was disclosed by Philippine Ambassador to Washington Jose Manuel "Babe" Romualdez in an interview with another media outlet.
According to him, the place is currently being renovated.
"From what I'm told, the First Family will be staying in the Pangarap, which is on the other side of the Palace. It is being renovated right now," Romualdez said. "In the meantime, they'll stay in another place."
The President's mother, former first lady Imelda Marcos, meanwhile, will be staying in the same residence she lived in over the past years, as per Romualdez.
"Mrs. Marcos has always stayed in her own place all these years... I'm talking about Mrs. Imelda Marcos," he said.
Bahay Pangarap is a rest house located inside the 19-hectare Malacañang, which is on the opposite side of the Pasig River fronting the presidential palace.
It was former first lady Evangeline Macapagal, the second wife of former President Diosdado Macapagal, who gave the name for the rest house in the early 1960s.
Both former presidents Noynoy Aquino and Rodrigo Duterte chose the place as their official residence during their terms.
On Thursday, Marcos was sworn in as the 17th President of the Republic of the P{Philippines.
