Boxing Legend Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao made his stunning return in the boxing ring after 4 years, July 20 (PH Time), in MGM Grand. Going in 12 rounds against WBC welterweight champion Marrio Barrios, the bout ended via majority draw decision.
Despite the four-year layoff of Pacman, his stance, punches, and footworks still challenged Barrios. His trademark speed, movement, and punching combinations made the fight more intense in the first rounds but upon entering the latter part of the fight Barrios made his quick punch moves against Pacman.
One judge scored the fight 115-113 for Barrios, while the two scored 114-114, resulting in a draw. With the decision, Barrios still holds the WBC welterweight title.
Barrios admitted that he had a rough time fighting against Pacquiao and being in awed with the moves that the boxing legend has shown in the fight,
“That’s crazy — his stamina, he can still crack and he’s still strong as hell. His timing, his rhythm, everything. He was still a very awkward fighter to figure out.” Barrios commented about how still Pacquiao acts.
Pacquiao on the side felt short with his performance, but still had hopes that he’d won the fight.
“I’m trying to find a way to finish the fight but my opponent is so tough. He’s not careless,” Pacquiao said.
The decision drew mixed reactions from the crowd, many of whom believed that Pacquiao got this moment.
