The Office of the Vice President on Tuesday denied the "false story" circulating online from a Cebu Pacific pilot claiming that Vice President Leni Robredo had requested a priority landing at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) which caused a diversion of flights.
In a statement, the OVP said the incident never happened and the story made by the pilot was a "malicious fabrication."
"During her entire tenure as Vice President, VP Leni has never asked to be prioritized for taking off or landing when traveling by air. Any claim to the contrary is a lie," the statement read.
The OVP also expressed concern about the spread of disinformation and fake news against Robredo, just a week after the local and national elections
"It is alarming that almost a week after the elections, the disinformation and fake news being spread on social media against VP Leni continue unabated," said the OVP.
The OVP's statement comes after the Cebu Pacific apologized to Robredo and placed the pilot concerned under disciplinary review for his "purely speculative" and "careless" allegations against the public official.
