Orly Guteza is expected to appear in connection with the ongoing National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) probe.
In his affidavit, Guteza implicated former House Speaker Martin Romualdez in the so-called flood control scandal, claiming that he personally delivered male briefcases of cash to the homes of former Congressman Zaldy Co and Romualdez.
As of this writing, RH Jecelle Ricafort is awaiting the arrival of Bishop Efraim Tendero, who had signed as a witness during the notarization of the joint affidavit submitted by 18 individuals claiming to be former Marines. Tendero is among the 25 people subpoenaed by the NBI.
While NBI Director Melvin Matibag welcomed the appearance of the self-identified former Marines yesterday, the session ended in a deadlock. Sixteen of the 18 individuals underwent only background verification, including identity checks that are currently under NBI review.
Contrary to claims by Atty. Levi Baligod that his clients were individually interviewed, Director Matibag noted that 16 of the former Marines refused to answer questions regarding their joint affidavit. They are scheduled to return to the NBI on March 17.
The NBI is expected to hold a press conference later today for further updates.
