The homes of three of the 18 alleged former marines who claimed they served as resigned Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Elizaldy Co’s security detail and bagmen were reportedly forcibly entered by former colleagues.

Atty. Levito Baligod, lawyer for the self-proclaimed former marines, claimed other individuals they had previously worked alongside under Co intruded into their homes and threatened their lives, reported RH 15 Jecelle Ricafort on Thursday.

They intended to intimidate the former marines who came forward with their exposé, Baligod alleged, in an attempt to silence them.

Moreover, two of the 18 received alarming text messages telling them to be careful; should they fail to topple the government, they will face consequences.

The series of death threats were sent prior to the exposé on February 24.

These allegations came after the supposed ex-soldiers and Baligod appeared before the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), in compliance with a subpoena.

NBI Director Atty. Melvin Matibag urged them to file a blotter report in relation to these threats so that the bureau may take action against the senders.

The 18 former marines, Baligod, as well as former Congressman Mike Defensor’s wife and lawyer appeared before the NBI on Thursday, in connection to the claim that the 18 men delivered a total of ₱800 billion stashed in suitcases to numerous government officials, including President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. himself and his cousin, former House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
