The Office of the Ombudsman has lifted the preventive suspension of 32 local officials in Bohol, following issues related to the construction of a resort in the country's famous Chocolate Hills.

The consolidated order, signed by Ombudsman Samuel Martires, states:

"WHEREFORE, in the interest of justice and fair play and consonant with this Office’s previous Consolidated Order dated 31 July 2024, the preventive suspension of the following respondents is hereby lifted."

The resort, located at the foot of the Chocolate Hills, received widespread criticism for its negative impact on the iconic landscape.

Many social media users and public figures, including Senator Nancy Binay, condemned the construction, calling it an "eyesore" and questioning why the resort was allowed to operate in a protected area.
