Olympic swimmer Carlos 'Pinky' Brosas passed away on Thursday, October 3, at the age of 68 years old.
The Philippine Aquatics Inc. confirmed the passing of Brosas, known for winning a silver medal in 4x100 meters freestyle relay event of 1970 Asian Games in Bangkok, Thailand, and competing in the 1972 Olympics in Munich, Germany.
Brosas also served as the head coach of the Philippine national swimming team in three editions of the Olympics from 1988 to 2012, and in the 2010 Olympic Youth Games in Singapore.
"One of the countries most decorated swim coaches, Coach Pinky produced 5 Filipino Olympians and is credited with 37+ Philippine Open records," the Philippine Aquatics said on Friday, October 4, in a Facebook post.
"Coach Pinky spent his life generously sharing from his wealth of experience and leaves a vacuum few can fill," the organization added.
The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) also grieves the passing of the Philippine swimming legend.
"The Philippine Sports Commission extends its deepest sympathies to the family of Olympic swimmer Carlos Singson Brosas," PSC said.
