The officials of the government and authorities from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) greets the DILG Secretary Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos Jr., for getting the highest performance rating of 85% and trust rating of 90% in the survey by the RP-Mission and Development Foundation Inc. (RPMD).
Based on the survey, Abalos got the highest performance rating out of all the Cabinet Secretaries.
Included in the ratings are the Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Maria Esperanza Christina Frasco with a rating of 77%, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin with 75%, Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Secretary Ivan John Enrile Uy and Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Amenah Pangandaman with 75% and 73% respectively.
The DILG Spokesperson and Undersecretary for Planning, Public Affairs and Communication, Margarita Gutierrez, was the first to greet Secretary Abalos..
“Congratulations, Sir! The Filipino people have spoken and the survey says it all. Now the people are seeing how dedicated and committed you are in whatever position you hold. As head of the DILG, you have been effectively shepherding both the interior and local government sectors to fulfill their mandates in accordance with law. I am sure that the DILG will continue making a difference in the lives of the people under your able leadership,” In her message to Secretary Abalo..
Kieth Lagmay, President of the DILG Employees Union, also extended his greeting and commended Abalos’ leadership.
Lagmay congratulated the DILG Secretary and expressed how he sees Abalos’ commitment in getting close to the people to give service.
The Chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), Police Gen. Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr., gave a ‘snappy salute’ to the DILG and Secretary.
In a post by the PNP, they extend their heartfelt congratulations to Abalos for his outstanding performance.
“Your outstanding performance has undoubtedly contributed to the success of the agency in fulfilling its mandate to maintain peace and order, ensure public safety, and promote good governance. You have truly set the bar high for excellence in public service, and your achievements are a source of inspiration for all of us in the PNP.” the post said.
The Bureau of Fire Protection, Louie Puracan, congratulated the DILG Secretary for his achievement.
Puracan said that they are grateful for the support that Secretary Abalos provided in the first year of implementation of the BFP Modernization Law.
“We can see a bright future ahead - personnel with world-class training and equipment, emergency response vehicles and infrastructure. Our DILG Secretary has masterfully taken over the reins of upholding public safety for man-made and natural disasters.” Puracan added.
Other DILG officials, as well as, attached agencies from both NCR and other regions also greeted the DILG Secretary for his achievement.
Netizens also greeted Abalos through social media with one netizen citing how Abalos lives the quote of “Gawa hindi salita”. Another netizen dubbed the DILG Secretary as the ‘bestfriend ng bayan’ and said that he or she was a proud Mandalenyo.
The RPMD nationwide survey was conducted from February 25 to March 8, 2023 with 10,000 respondents that are adults and +/1 percent sampling margin error. The survey is part of the ‘Boses ng Bayan’ which analyzes the performance of public officials through a face to face interview.
